Interview with Alex: The different thinking between US and Chinese youngs

In this Blog I would like to share with you guy with my experiences to interview a native speaker. His name is Alex and I knew him in the midtown church at Atlanta. I think this interview is a great opportunity for me to know him so I just interviewed him last week at church, and after that I invite him to have lunch in my dorm with my roommates.

The interview is not very long and I asked some questions I am most interested in many aspects. The primary  thinking for me is to find out what is the difference between US and Chinese young people's thinking. Alex is about 22 years old and he just graduated from Georgia tech last year. I got a lot of information about his and American young's thinking in this interview. And I will show you what are my questions and his answers are.

1. About food. Does Americans always eat fast food?

The answer is Yes. Alex said that Americans always eat fast food because it is a faster and easier way to this have-to thing, eating. Some people think it is easy and some is just lazy to cook for themselves. For Alex himself, he likes cook, he usually cook for himself as long as he have time.

2. Personal entertainment. What do you do when you have leisure time?

Alex has a lot of hobbies. Like reading, he likes to read literature books, fictions. In sports, hiking is his favorite. There is a misunderstanding that all the american are workholic and do not have leisure time at all. Alex told me that many of them has a lot of time for their hobbies and many american can get a lot of fun in their leisure time, some of them even can make it some successful than their main job.

3. Self independence. What's your opinion about self- independence?

Self- independence is a good thing for young people. Alex told me that in the US most of students can support for their lives after high school. In undergraduate school, the parents will pay the tuition fee and the kids can support in other aspects. That's independence in finance. Despite this, independence in mentally is also very important. One may not be mature in the beginning of a work, but he should be independence both in financially and mentally in a one or two years after working, usually in their 23-24.

4. Supporting parents. Does Americans support their parents?

It is a surprise to me that the answer is Yes. Not only I, many of Chinese thought that Americans do not support their parents because there is no law force people to do this. In China, however, there is a law forcing people to support their parents when they are old. Alex told me that many Americans would like to support their parents even though their is not a law requiring them to do it. They usually spent 15%-30% of their incomes to support their parents, if their parents need to. And they always support each other.

5. Marriage and children. What age is appropriate for people to get married? Should people have children and how many kids you want?

Alex think that 25 will be a very appropriate age for people to get married. It is also a big surprise to me. In the tradition of China, people must get married when they grow up. And we had seen some news that there are some people in the US or other place refused to get married, and some of them get married in their 50s or 60s. It is unbelievable for me. In my experience, I have a foreigner professor who teaches us English in undergraduate school, and he is over 40 and didn't get married
yet. So it surprised me that he said he got a plan to get married at 25.

For Alex, he want 2 kids after married, and the sooner, the better. He told me that most of American families have 2 or more kids and 2 is a stable number. He also knows the One-Child Policy in China and thinks that is not correct.

6. Opinions about foreigners, Religion and conflicts. Do Americans have prejudices to foreigners?
How do you treat other people's different opinions with you in religion?

It depends. It is impossible that all the Americans is capable with all the foreigner customs and traditions, especially some religion tradition. However, he said that most of Americans are very nice to different traditions, and they can understand other cultures. As a Christian, he think himself is a understandable person and, he is very curious about other culture, like Chinese culture and Chinese food. I treat him to go to our dorm for lunch after the interview.

In conclusion, this is just Alex's personal opinion and maybe it cannot present all american young people. Actually, I have talked about this question before the interview and I told him that my questions are kind of general and if he think his answer cannot be representative, he can just talk about his own opinion. After the interview he told me that the most of his answer can represent

The Way I Blog

In this Blog entry I gonna introduce to you guys the way I blog. My blog is mainly based on the daily life and my Blog's background, soccer. Recently I am kind of busy but, I would like to think about my blog once I have time. So let me introduce you my methods and steps I blog.

Firstly, I always keep and eye on my daily life, because I think it is the source of my inspiration comes from the    daily life. And that's the basic topic of my blog. When I see beautiful scenes, interesting stories and funny people, I would like to record them, sometimes take the photo, sometimes write it down in my composition book for blogging.

Secondly, when I have those sources from daily life I will digest them and make some further thinking, such as when I saw a particular phenomenon I shall not make my expression or make a comment once I heard it cause thing always are more complicated than what people think. You should see the thing in the other side of the coin.

Thirdly, when I got a mature thought of a specific thing, I would write it down. Also, there are lots of things you should pay attention when you blogging. A vital thing is that you should keep critical thinking in you writing. Keep away from ambiguity, irrelevance, and come cliches. Always be original to the things you write and do not follow what other's opinions.

What's more, sometimes I would also choose some easy and relax topics about soccer. I always concern the  news happened in the soccer world. About those blogs related to soccer, I usually trace the matches and make some comments by myself which may not be professional.

Highly secret photo essay

Here are the Highly Official Secrets, and you may feel lucky to know it ~~

1. What a great meal! Here is a typical lunch in my room, we have 4 people eat together, and we cook Chinese food, like chicken wings, Chinese cabbages and rice, which is our main food. It is really different from western food.

2. This is totally a mess… and I always forget things cause I usually put things anywhere. However, it is not always like this. I know it is a little bit messy, so when I cannot understand it, I will do a clean-up and make it very clear and tidy. Then I come back to the regulation status. I usually do it once a month.

3. It is very hard to say that which one is your favorite piece of clothes, because one maybe has many beautiful clothes, so I just can say that this one is one of my favorite. This is a sliver jacket, very smooth, very comfortable. And I think the best collocation for it is a shirt with light color and a pair of jeans. Wanna see me with it?

4. This is a pair of my shoes I bought one month ago, the condition is very good and it just like new. It is very comfortable when I have it on, no matter in daily lives or in sports. Also, as a pair of basketball shoes, it will be warm when you on it in the winter. Moreover, the price of a pair of nike shoes here is generally cheaper than China as well as many other brands. So it is very worthy to buy it.

5. He need a stick. This picture is taken when we were in the High Art Museum in Atlanta. He is trying to mimic the stature’s expression. Don’t you think it is very funny?

6. Here is one piece of paper of my Mathematical Biology class’s note. Professor will introduce us a lot of nouns in the Biology and we have to understand and remember it. The knowledge in Biology is not difficult but the problem is English. We have already learned it in high school but when translated into English, those words becomes very hard and difficult to understand, horrible!

7. Camphor tree is very popular in the southern part of China. I come from the southern part of China and my university is located in the north, so I cannot see camphor tree in the north because it cannot stand the cold weather. However, Atlanta’s latitude is almost the same with my hometown and the weather is also quite same, this kind of tree is rarely here.

8. An object in my hand? This is and old phone and have been used for three years. The functions is OK but there are many scratches and wear of usage you can see. Buy an iphone5 here is very complicated because I want to buy an unlocked phone which I can use it when I go back to China. However, as a non-citizen, I should pay more $400 as deposit without a SSN. So, probably this old phone will stay with me one more year.

In this entry I want to talk about that soccer and why I have a great crush on it.
I know soccer since I was very young and I often play with my friends after school when I am in primary school. At that time, life is very simple and happy, I just grown up, with happiness and with soccer.

Although I played pretty well I don't think that I can be a professional player, and my family will not support me if I chose to a soccer player. So I just went to middle school and high school, and then university, just like a normal person should do. But, soccer always is a part of my life. When I have time, I always want to find my friends to play the soccer and share all things with them, especially those Arsenal fans, it's my favorite team. In the field, we play hard; in daily lives, we be tough.

Soccer give me the strength I need and teaches me what the life means. For me, it makes me find the key to success, and nothing can tear me down anymore.

Analysis of 5 Similar Blogs

Here are some of blogs I like and I will make an analysis each of them.

1. Coffee with hallelujah. Well, actually it is the first blog I read in English and it is the greatest blog I have seen now. I know this blog because it is my teacher's blog. I liked it very much after I read it. My teacher is an artist and she want to connect and share her are to others and bring creativity to other people. She can draw and make a lot of beautiful pictures in her blog. Also she encourages people to explore, to think creatively and make mistakes. In a word, a thoughtful blog.

2.  Love made me do it. When you enter the homepage, you will hear beautiful music. And it is like that you can feel your heart's voice. Remember love all the time, and you will have power to do everything.

3.  Red tears Dancing in the Sunshine. It is one of my classmate's blog and it is very very good, the person who write this blog has a great emotion to love an he always share his love to  others.

4. Fifa soccer blog. It is kind of like a official blog but I think it is mainly for the soccer game. It introduces us the recent news about soccer and soccer games.

5. Arsenal Fc Blog. It is about my favorite team's blog. In the blog we can find news about Arsenal and we can find many thoughtful thinking in comments to the game. One of my goal is write the blog like that!

Hi, everyone, I am a new blogger and I created my blog recently. It is totally new to me and I want to make it perfect. I have read many blogs and found many interesting things. In this blog, I will share with you some of my interest, of course, you have seen it, soccer, and my daily life.

Actually I want to have my own blog for a long time and now I finally get a chance to do it. As a person who loves soccer and life so much, I tired to keep myself energetic and happy everyday, and soccer gives me this energy and power. But as far as I know, soccer is not very popular in the US so I really want to share my opinion about soccer and light you heart. Also I want to introduce you my favorite soccer team, Arsenal, to you. This team has a long history and is a very good soccer team in England, maybe it is not the best one, but in my heart it always the champ.
